First Day #1

Yesterday, after we got all settled in, since we didn’t have any plans for outreach we prayed and asked the Lord to show us what we were supposed to do.  One said they felt we were supposed to go pick up trash, another said they got the word “park”,  and I got that we were supposed to go feed the homeless at a park by GA Tech.  We felt like that was more  than enough confirmation so we headed off to the park.  We made some PB&J sandwiches and grabbed some bottled waters and prayed for opportunities to chat.

When we got there, there was what looked to be about 20 homeless people hanging at the park, so we split off in pairs and started handing out food.  The first guy Sarah and I ran across immediately asked for prayer.  Haha, I love how God works!  So I asked him a few questions about specifics and we started praying for him.  He had grabbed my hand during the prayer and throughout the prayer just kept squeezing harder and harder.  At one point his whole body was shaking…

And there was no doubt in my mind there was a spiritual battle going on.

We finished praying for him only to look up and realize he had been crying uncontrollably the whole time.  We ended talking to him for about another 15-20 minutes about surrender and that his life mattered and he didn’t have to live up to any expectations.

It was a really good time and a great start for this week.  A few others had some great opportunities to pray with some other people.  Then we went around the park and picked up trash and we got a really cool response from the homeless there, they were very grateful for us coming.

God is worthy of our praise.  Thanks again for your prayers.  We really need them right now as we will be asking God for direction everyday.

It is a good life.

Wow I wish I had this. My faith/prayer life has been pretty non existent & tho I feel like I have my reasons — reading your stories give me hope.
